'American Idol' judge Jennifer Lopez isn’t afraid to display her softer side on the show. She is regularly moved to tears by powerhouse performances and often refers to contestants with terms of endearment like "baby."

She struggles with cutting people, too, so it's no surprise that at last night's FOX afterparty to celebrate the 13 'Idol' finalists, J. Lo tells MTV, "Ugh. It was awful" when narrowing down the talent pool, especially when choosing the three wild cards at the end of the episode.

Lopez, a quadruple threat as a singer, dancer, actress and judge, continues, "It was so tough. It was so hard, even up until the very last second. It was like, wait a minute, we really didn't know who to choose at the last minute. It could have gone any way. Even when we did it, when we announced it, we were like, 'Did we do the right thing?' I don't know."

Furthermore, Lopez acknowledged that the eliminations are only going to get harder, since this year’s crop of hopefuls are all talented in their own way. "[We] were going to send somebody home that maybe deserved to be there," she says. "Probably a lot of kids [went] home who deserved to be there."
