Adam Levine spent much of Monday night defending his team members. Shy and quiet country cutie Karla Davis wanted to take a chance, and chose B.o.B.'s 'Airplanes' to prove she could sing more than just country music. The judges agreed that she was a pleasant surprise.

"I think you were the biggest surprise of the night," Christina Aguilera hesitantly said as Davis stood nervously fiddling her microphone waiting for feedback. The singer about popped out of her cowboy boots when the famous blonde applauded a vocal run.

Blake Shelton risked upsetting his man-love, saying "I think you did as good as you can do with that song, it was so wordy," to Levine's team member. The song's lyrics required a rapid-fire delivery that didn't allow Davis to showcase her vocal skills, he argued.

Levine agreed with both coaches, adding that nerves and the big stage might have gotten the better of his singer. "You could have been better," he said before putting a constructive spin on the performance. While it wasn't the night's best, few of Levine's singers have shined. The Nashville resident's charming anxiety could win her enough fans to put her amongst Levine's top three on Tuesday.
