Will Katy Perry be heading to Broadway to portray Marilyn Monroe soon? According to E! Online, that is something that could very likely happen in the near future!

The new movie, 'My Week With Marilyn,' hit theaters earlier this week, and the success and buzz has the producers mapping out what the next step should be in keeping the blond bombshell's memory alive.

E! reports that producer, Harvey Weinstein, would love to see the late Monroe's story go to Broadway, and is eyeing Perry to play the role. "If the movie works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy first," Weinstein tells the entertainment publication. "I think she can play Marilyn on the Broadway stage. I think she would be amazing."

So why Perry? The 'Teenage Dream' superstar singer has already been supporting the movie, which uses a remix of her current Top 10 single, 'The One That Got Away,' in the new trailer for 'My Week With Marilyn.'

"Katy posted about it on her Twitter and Facebook and the next thing you know 250,000 people have downloaded the trailer in an hour," Weinstein says.

And lastly, Perry already tested the waters with playing Monroe when she shot a 90-second commercial of 'Teenage Dream' for the German television show, 'Star Force.' The clip shows Perry sporting a blond wig and red dress, looking like a knockout replica of Monroe, as she recreated the iconic 'Seven Year Itch' scene in which Monroe's dress gets blown up above her knees as she stands over a subway vent on the street.

Stay tuned to PopCrush for any developments in the possibilities of Perry's Broadway debut.
