Katy Perry Planks as a Mermaid

In keeping with her oceanic planking theme, Katy Perry is participating in the online trend once again, this time dressed in a full mermaid costume.

"PROPER planking FTW! #itswhatArielwoulddo," the pop star tweeted along with a photo of herself. Perry is seen posing in a straight rigid position for the camera, donning a lavender wig, starfish hair clip and green sequin fishtail bottom. The singer is shown balancing atop a dock post while surrounded by metallic green and blue paper.

This isn't the first time the 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.' singer has joined in on the Internet craze -- Perry posted a pic of herself planking on a yacht over Fourth of July weekend. Using the hash tag #plankingonthe4th, the California native tweeted out her first example of the proper way to execute the trend.

While planking may actually make the Little Mermaid feel like a fish out of water, many other celebs have indulged in the act, which has received criticism after a 20-year-old Australian man fell off a balcony and died trying to plank on its railing.

Still, stars like Chris Brown and Justin Bieber have put themselves in rigid positions, and continued to share their pics with their fans. Perry might have some pointers for her pop peers, though.
