Believe it or not, Lucy Hale auditioned for the coveted role of Anastasia Steele in the upcoming film version '50 Shades of Grey.' And yes, she describes her audition as "very uncomfortable."

That's right: Before Dakota Johnson nabbed the steamy role, we could have all been seeing a much different side of the 'Pretty Little Liars' star, who recently opened up to MTV about the "awkward" audition.

"It was like a two-page monologue of dialogue of exactly what you would think it would be. Very uncomfortable," Hale revealed. "But it was sorta one of those things where you just had to go for it otherwise you're gonna look lame -- I hope I didn't look lame."

"It was unlike any other audition I had ever done before in my life," the country singer said. "Let's just say I don't want my grandmother watching this audition tape."

"I think any girl in my demographic would have loved to be a part of it," she explained. "Mainly, I was just interested in doing something risky, and doing something a little different than my character on 'PLL,' so yeah, it took me out of my comfort zone."
