A backup dancer for Nicki Minaj was bitten by a six-foot long snake during rehearsals for the MTV Video Music Awards.

TMZ reports that on Friday while Minaj and her crew were practicing for her 'Anaconda' performance, a dancer was bit on stage. The dancer was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the snake was removed off-stage in a container.

No word yet on whether the snake, or snakes, will still be used for Sunday's live showing of the MTV VMAs.

The site says that the snake was believed to have been an anaconda, and while they are non-venomous, it is possible for a bite to transmit bacteria.

It wasn't all bad news for Minaj and 'Anaconda' on Friday, however: Vevo announced that the music video for her latest single set a record for most views during its 24-hour debut, with 19.6 million views.
