Every week at PopCrush, we’re putting the spotlight on one up-and-coming act you need to know about. Why? So you can get on board early before everyone else and their mother jumps on the bandwagon…and so you can be that one friend in the group who’s always like, “Um, actually, I prefer their earlier work.”

Meet your new love, Dua Lipa.

The 19-year-old London-bred singer-songwriter only has one song out officially for now, but she's already ticking all the right boxes: The track, called "New Love," was produced by both Lana Del Rey hit-maker Emile Haynie and Andrew Wyatt, better known as the voice of Miike Snow.

Combining elements of Lana Del Rey's cut-and-splice homemade visual aesthetic and rootless lyrical style with Amy Winehouse or Joss Stone's soulful delivery, Dua's sound is immediately intriguing. "I need some new love," she melodically croons throughout the shape-shifting track, colored by pounding drums and atmospheric sound. Having left her home at 15 to live with friends, it's no surprise that her music has a distinct sense of wanderlust.

Also, she was somehow in a car with Harry Styles a few years ago? Sure, why not.

"New Love" aside, there isn't a ton of new content to digest from the budding songwriter just yet, although she does have covers of Jamie XX's "Good Times" and Alessia Cara's "Here" on her YouTube, as well as a demo of a song called "Thinking 'Bout You."

According to PopJustice, there's plenty of greatness still to come from Lipa — including an Obvious No. 1 hit. And just like that, we're all ears.
