The Selena Gomez Rehab Rumor Mill is spinning out of control. The latest? The singer and actress, 21, entered treatment since she was burnt out.

The strongest rumors were that Gomez checked into Dawn at the Meadows in Arizona in early January to cope with drug problems -- specifically with pot, weed and Ambien, the latter of which is a sleep aid. Her other addiction? Oh, Justin Bieber, who is said to have introduced her to the party lifestyle which is markedly at odds with her public persona as a good girl.

Sel's rep confirmed her treatment, but insisted substance abuse was not the cause. The program she embarked upon is six weeks in length, but she left after two to attend to Sundance commitments. Now, an insider said that "project wellness" was the reason for her two-week stint.

According to Billboard, the source said, "She was burnt out after a relentless year of back-to-back films, concerts, TV, touring and all the promotional work that goes along with it. She needed a break."

We'll give her that much. She had a cray cray year with 'Spring Breakers,' 'Stars Dance' and its tour, and the constant on-off with The Biebs. She also partied, but was by no means strung out.

"She’s not that girl," a source said. "Does she party and have the occasional joint? Yes. Does she drink when she goes out? Yes. But she’s not struggling with drug addiction or alcoholism. I’ve never seen her out of control. There’s no needle dangling out of her arm."

Sounds like Sel is a normal gal who just needed to take stock of her life. She felt she didn't need to return to rehab, although the course of treatment should be assessed by professionals, not the rehabee.

An insider reiterated that "she’s only 21" and that "she struggles with the same types of emotional issues anyone her age does. She’s allowed to make bad decisions. She’s concerned about him, but she’s not caught in a similar downward spiral." The "him" in that sentence is The Biebs, who reportedly does not think he plays any part in her issues.

Whatever the case, we're glad Sel sought help. Selenators are too!
