Shawn Mendes totally made our day when he released his latest music video for the song “Stitches."

The video starts with a girl waking up alone in bed, heading into the kitchen and setting a note she found on her bedside table on fire — which is something we’ve always wanted to do, if we’re being totally honest. Fire is so cleansing, you know? Then she seems to have some kind of an epiphany as she puts a pair of headphones on and dances around the house while listening to music.

She writes her own note on a wooden table, seemingly in response to the one she set on fire minutes earlier, and then winds up in a closet where she casually tosses clothes all over the place. She then has a pillow fight with herself and tears said pillow apart, which results in a cascade of white feathers. Sidetone: Destroying a pillow is also something we have always wanted to do.

The entire video reminds us of a sudden breakup that leaves one person confused, upset and a little out of his or her mind. It could also be indicative of the freedom you might feel at the end of a particularly nasty relationship if we're exploring both sides. It’s hard to tell, but in the end she winds up leaving the note she wrote earlier at the front door and walks away from everything, looking resigned and a little relieved.

With lyrics like, "You watch me bleed until I can't breathe / I'm shaking, falling onto my knees / And now that I'm without your kisses / I'll be needing stitches / I'm tripping over myself / I'm aching, begging you to come help," we're gonna go with the idea that things -- whatever they may be -- did not end well.
