April 16 was a massive day for Stars Wars fans! The trailer for the latest installment, The Force Awakens, hit the internet.

The two minute-long video immediately makes an iconic reference to the franchise: the decrepit mask of Darth Vader. (Adding to the chill factor was the sound of the character's ragged breath.) Later in the trailer, original characters Chewbacca and Han Solo returned, making this a banner moment for Star Wars fans.

ScreenCrush reports that the trailer debuted the morning of April 16, with hardcore fans camping out to see it live. (The site also mentions the very awesome fact that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy bought the crowd pizza.)

The release of the trailer is a much-anticipated moment for the franchise's diehards, who got their first look at the upcoming film when a trailer dropped last November. That 88-second clip provided a small taste of what The Force Awakens will hold -- but the second teaser is much more action-packed.

The Stars Wars official site reports that the new movie is "set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces." Among those new faces are Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis and Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o.

If you're anything like us, you're dying to see the film. Unfortunately, Star Wars: The Force Awakens won't hit theaters until December 18. Until then, you can check out the movie's second teaser trailer in the video above!
