Troye Sivan + Ariana Grande to Duet On His New Album
Carly Rae Jepsen may not be making an appearance on Troye Sivan's new album, but fans will be treated to another pop queen collab.
Sivan told BBC Radio 1 on Friday (February 23) that his upcoming sophomore record will feature a duet with Ariana Grande. "This was not a planned announcement," he said. "But I'm so excited. It sounds exactly like I dreamt it would."
The "My My My!" singer went on to say that he and Grande have been friends for roughly two years, and that they were just "hanging out" when he decided to play her a demo of the track. "I said, 'would you ever sing on this song?' And she just did it," he explained.
The 22-year-old YouTube breakout also took to Twitter to confirm the news. "Yes!!! The rumours are trumours!! @arianagrande is my pop queen and i can’t wait for you guys to hear our song," he tweeted.
The reveal comes on the heels of reports that Sivan recorded music with Jepsen, but that it ultimately didn't make the cut for his new LP, which follows Sivan's 2015 debut Blue Neighbourhood. The album, which has yet to receive a title, is due out this spring. He's thus far unveiled two singles: "My My My!" and "The Good Side," both released in January.
"The thing that I was most excited about was I felt like I had learned so much from touring about my voice and the kind of music that I wanna make, and what works in a live setting and what doesn't," Sivan previously told PopCrush of the project. "I sort of subconsciously wrote this album for the road. It's going to be really fun to tour."
