Which ‘Sex and the City’ Star May Run for Governor of New York?
Carrie, Miranda, Samantha or Charlotte -- could one of them run the Empire State?
Cynthia Nixon, best known for her role as Miranda on Sex and the City, is reportedly interested in running for governor of New York in 2018, reports The Wall Street Journal. The actress would run as a Democrat.
Andrew Cuomo, also a Democrat, is currently the governor. Nixon, 51, has criticized his work in education, even appearing on The View earlier this year to blast him for not funding public schools.
"She's an out-of-the-box candidate with progressive credentials who would excite people," Billy Easton, executive director of the Alliance for Quality Education, a public-education advocacy group, told the Journal.
She's also been arrested for protesting poor funding for schools in New York City.
Nixon, whose camp has no comment on a potential run, would join a growing list of celebrities turning to politics. There's that Trump fella in the White House, while Dwayne Johnson has mulled a run for the highest office in the land in 2020. Caitlyn Jenner has also expressed an interest in running for office. Then, of course, there's Kid Rock, who may make a play for the Senate.
So, while Nixon may seem like an unusual choice for someone to serve the public, the wide variety of choices indicates it may be anything but.
