In case you didn't have enough magic in your life, here's a good amount: The Backstreet Boys are in the studio. With Max Martin. Fans of pop music should be absolutely over the moon at this news, because Martin is the man behind such aural perfection as 'I Want It That Way,' which is regarded as one of the best pop songs ever recorded.

The band announced the news on Twitter in a series of Instagram photos and micromessages yesterday (March 9). Brian Littrell broke the news with a photo of Martin at the boards:

Howie Dorough (Howie D.) added:

Littrell posted more photos with enthusiastic captions like "MagicHappens! BSB /MAX MARTIN," "Magic!" and "Still working! Headed back east tonight after I finish."

The group has previously hinted that 2013 would be a big year for them, and it's shaping up to be that way. Kevin Richardson rejoined the group, bringing it to back to its original five-member lineup. He explained, “My heart said ‘Now is the time.’ It just felt right. I feel inspired to make music again with these guys," he continued. "When I left, it had nothing to do with our relationship. It had to do with me needing to be inspired so I had to step away for a while.”

He's being inspired by their second decade together. “2013 is going to be a big year for us. It’s our 20th anniversary. We’re in the studio right now working on an album.”

In addition to their new record, the group will embark on a cruise this October and even have a movie in the works. BSB's 20th year may well be their best yet.

Backstreet's back, alright!
