A man was confused after discovering that his co-worker invited everyone else who works with them to her wedding except for him.

He explained on Reddit that his place of employment only has 12 employees, and everyone received an invitation aside from him. Apparently, the bride went so far as to tell his co-workers that he did get invited, but couldn't attend.

"I was personally told the wedding was being kept small as they didn’t want to spend extravagantly. The others were told that I couldn’t attend," the man wrote.

When the bride returned from her honeymoon, someone mentioned her wedding in a meeting, leading to an uncomfortable situation.

"A co-worker commented it was a shame I couldn’t attend; I remarked that I wasn’t even invited. I could see the bride's face visibly change and now she is mad at me and our working relationship is cordial at best," the man continued.

"To further this, our department had a dinner and celebration for her and I contributed to the gift. The date was selected and changed based on others' availability, but I couldn’t attend due to a trip overseas I had planned last year. It wasn’t even discussed if it could be changed so I could attend," he added, explaining prior to the drama he and the bride "had a really good work relationship" and he has no idea why he was excluded.

Users sounded off in the comments, with many slamming the bride for lying.

"It's fine not to invite someone for whatever reason (no one is entitled to an invitation) but if the bride didn't want questions about it, she should have been honest about who was invited and who wasn't," one person wrote.

"Her wedding, so she can invite whomever she wants. However, if she feels uncomfortable for excluding you, that’s her problem, not yours. You are not obligated to lie for her. And it’s probably better to clarify up front instead of having to backpedal later," another commented.

"Why is she mad? You weren't invited to the wedding. She used the pretense that it was a small wedding and no one from work was invited. If she's embarrassed — oh well, don't lie," someone else chimed in.
