'Good Morning America' dared to ask Britney Spears an unapproved question during her live interview on Tuesday morning (Sept. 17), and it freaked out the singer's camp since the program broke a cardinal rule.

Brit first appeared in a pre-taped segment and then a live interview took place after she helicoptered into the desert upon announcing her Las Vegas residency. That's when the breakfast TV show got the balls to ask Brit a question that was not submitted for prior approval.

Hey man, that's the chance a celeb takes in the live setting. An interviewer or a media outlet can deviate from the planned course of action at any time. That's what makes it, oh, we dunno, journalism, maybe?

Now, that's not to suggest that this interview was of extreme cultural significance, either.

Interviewer Sam Champion asked Brit Brit about her first kiss (around the 3:30 mark) – which she said was Justin Timberlake — and Brit was sort taken aback when the question was posed. In defense of 'GMA,' it was a softball question. They didn't ask her about her tax return or the results of a pap smear. They asked her about her first kiss, a rite of passage we all have.

Radar reports that the interview "absolutely had conditions in place." A source said, "Britney’s team panicked when Sam deviated from the pre-approved questions and asked her who her first kiss was. There was a brief moment of panic from Britney’s team, but she handled it like a pro."

Apparently, Brit Brit only agrees to interviews that accept her conditions, set forth in advance by her camp. "This is done to protect Britney, and so she won’t be asked any awkward questions," an insider said.

Her team doesn't want her fielding anything that could embarrass her and they have tight time restrictions on interviews. Last we checked, Brit is 31. We think she can handle interview questions.
