BTS Just Broke a Major South Korean Chart Record
K-pop's reigning chart leaders just broke yet another record.
According to Allkpop.com, South Korean boy band BTS have officially sold the most copies of a single album in the history of the country's Gaon chart with Love Yourself: Her. The site reports that the EP, the group's fifth, sold 92,391 in the month of January, bringing the total to 1,585,834 copies.
The album previously broke record stateside as the highest-ranking K-pop album ever to appear on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at No. 7. Earlier this month, BTS also became the first K-pop group to be certified gold with "MIC Drop (remix)," a revamped take on the project's second single by DJ/producer Steve Aoki. Love Yourself: Her is currently in its 13th week on the Billboard 200, now sitting at No. 67.
BTS are next set to release Face Yourself, their third Japanese album due out April 4. It will include Japanese versions of several of their singles (including "MIC Drop," "DNA,"and "Go Go") as well as two new tracks. They're also set to unveil another Steve Aoki collaboration later this year.
