Yowsa! Demi Lovato performed her new single 'Skyscraper' at the VH1 Do Something Awards, which aired last night. It was Demi's moment, as she debuted the song live for the very first time. It has us completely and totally awestruck; that's how good she was. When you've been to hell and back, like Lovato has over the past year, you become stronger and more resilient and those qualities asserted themselves during Lovato's show-stopping performance.

With her light brown hair falling in full waves and a printed, performance-appropriate maxi dress hugging her curves, Lovato looked and acted every inch the diva. She assumed the same posture as the likes of Mariah Carey, taking her place confidently before the microphone, letting her voice be the most important element of the performance as she stood on stage unassisted by dancers or props. The focus was placed squarely on Lovato and her voice.

Her eyes were full of emotive expression, but that was all window dressing compared to that voice. She might not hit the notes that the Mariahs and Celines of the world do, and likely never will go for that type of range, but for a 19-year-old, she's untouchable.

The lovely Lovato was vulnerable and strong at once. That's why we heart her.

Oh, and happy early birthday, Demi! She officially turns 19 tomorrow.
