Drake Bell is ending the year with some legal woes: The former Drake & Josh star was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Monday (December 21).

The actor-musician was pulled over by police in Glendale, California after cops first spotted him abruptly braking at a red light, the L.A. Times reports. Bell was then allegedly spotted swerving and speeding on the road, and a traffic stop occurred at about 2:20 a.m. Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot told the Times that the smell of alcohol was noticeable in the car, and Bell reportedly took a field sobriety test and failed.

As any early-aughts Nickelodeon fan can tell you, Bell starred in Drake & Josh from 2004 to 2007. He and Josh Peck, who currently stars with John Stamos in the Fox sitcom Grandfathered, played stepbrothers with wildly different personalities. Bell, who has focused on music in recent years, wrote and performed the show's theme song.

Bell's had a quiet 2015 on the professional front. In 2014 he released his third album, Ready Steady Go! and told PopCrush of its grown-up rock 'n roll sound, "I would rather be on stage playing to 25 people with a band I love and the music I love than learning dance moves I don’t want to do for 25,000 people." Earlier this year Bell made headlines with a tweet in response to Caitlyn Jenner's high-profile Vanity Fair cover, writing "Sorry…Still calling you Bruce.” He later deleted the tweet after Caitlyn supporters found it disrespectful, though he attempted to explain with "I’m not dissing him! I just don’t want to forget his legacy! He is the greatest athlete of all time! Chill out!”

Here's hoping Bell has a brighter and safer 2016.
