Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were notoriously on-and-off for the length of their tumultuous relationship. And while things will most likely be off for, well, ever, Bieber recently admitted that he'll always have feelings for Gomez.

During an interview with Billy Bush for Access Hollwood, he admitted (all quotes via PEOPLE), “It was really tough. I don’t know if I’m still over it yet. I think that I'm definitely in another place, and I think we've definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her.”

When pressed if any of the songs on his upcoming album Purpose are about Gomez, Bieber said, “A lot of it dude, a lot of it…probably like three.”

Three songs out of 18 does not seem like “a lot,” but our definition may vary from Bieber’s.

The "Sorry" singer continued, saying he believes if he and Gomez met at another time, things might have worked out differently between them: "Yeah, I wrote a song [that] didn't make the album. It was called 'If I Would Have Met You in 5 Years.' How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it's just the wrong time. So many people can relate to that.”

He truly spoke about her at length, continuing, “I’m never going to stop loving her. I’m never going to stop checking in on her. I don't think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally. We always respected each other and we still respect each other.”

Are you anxiously awaiting the release of Bieber's upcoming album Purpose? Do you plan on poring over the album in an attempt to best deduce which songs are about Gomez? Do you wonder whether either party will ever stop talking about each other in the press? Let us know!
