K-pop was represented in a big way at the 2018 American Music Awards.

Breakout South Korean artists hit the red carpet, many for the first time.

"Teach You" singer and Girls' Generation member Tiffany Young donned a vibrant Versace dress, chatted with Billboard about her new single, and even sang a bit of her favorite Mariah Carey song during her first AMA red carpet stint—which just so happened to be the first AMAs red carpet appearance for a female K-pop idol.

Wearing an edgy black and white suit, former EXO member Kris Wu also made his AMAs red carpet debut, as did supergroup NCT 127. The K-pop troupe chatted with the American Music Awards emcees about their first English single, "Regular," and taught them a new dance.

Last but certainly not least, chart-toppers and history-makers BTS also won big for South Korea, taking home the award for Favorite Social Artist—just a little under a year after the act made their U.S. televised award show debut with their performance of "DNA" at the 2017 AMAs.

Hopefully, this positive trajectory for South Korean pop in the Western market will mean even more nominations and, hopefully, onstage performances for more K-pop and Korean artists in the future.
