Nicki Minaj Is Debuting a New Song on ‘SNL’
Last week, NBC announced Nicki Minaj would be the musical guest for the Saturday Night Live season finale, with Tina Fey on hosting duty. The Queens rapper recently released two new singles, "Chun-Li" and "Barbie Tingz"—marking her first new music since 2014's The Pinkprint—so naturally, it was thought that she'd perform those two tracks on the sketch show's stage. But on Sunday (April 22) she divulged on Twitter that she's got a surprise in store for those who tune in on May 19.
"I’ll perform a song you never heard b4. My fave on the album. plus my second song. You can prob guess what that’s gonna be," she tweeted to her Barbz after a fan asked her to spill the tea about her upcoming SNL performance.
She also explained why she won't be performing at the BBMA's anymore, tweeting: "Doing SNL the day b4. Can’t make it to LA in time to rehearse on the BBMA stage. But SNL will be VERY worth it & that’s all I’ll say about THAT," and revealed the new song will be the first track on her upcoming yet-to-be-announced fifth album.
Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30pm. ET/8:30pm PT on NBC. Watch the video for "Chun-Li" below.
