From a quiet stint in rehab to a repeat home invader, to her forever on-again/off-again relationship with Justin Bieber, 2014 has not been an easy year for Selena Gomez.  In a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres (video posted above) the 22-year old starlet opened up about her tumultuous year, looking up and ahead to the future.

Without directly addressing any specific instances, the 'Spring Breakers' actress talks about how necessary it's been to re-examine herself and take the time to come into her own, telling Ellen, "I feel like I have been doing this so long that people tend to forget that, you know, they're all like 'be yourself, be yourself' and I'm still trying to figure out who that is."

When asked where she would land on a scale from 1-10, health and happiness wise, Selena diplomatically answers "I'm a seven" which is a nice, honest change from what sometimes seems to be the celeb stock answer of some variation of "never been better."

Turning her negative experiences into positive ones, she goes on to express that while there are downsides to fame ("I don't want to let anybody down."), the ability to use her celebrity status to do good ultimately outweighs the bad: "That's when I get to do amazing things like use my platform for things like UNICEF or kind of just shift everything into what's important and what actually matters in the world."

With a new label, new manager and a new house, it seems we're looking at a new Selena. Here's to a happy and healthy 2015!
