Shawn Mendes Doesn’t Have a Prom Date

Despite their massive success, good looks and bathtubs lined with gemstones, celebrities really are just like us. Take Shawn Mendes: he's a 16-year-old singer-songwriter about to embark on tour opening for Taylor Swift. That specific scenario is not relatable, because that does not happen to most 16-year-olds or anyone, ever, at all. But what is relatable about a 16-year-old is the idea of going to prom -- and Shawn is planning on attending his.

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Shawn said, "I am, I am going to prom. I haven't exactly figured out how that's going to come about, but I will be attending my school prom." Considering it is already May, we hope Shawn gets it together as soon as humanly possible.

But wait, there's more. Not only will Shawn be partaking in one of the most widespread traditions of American culture, but he has no one to go with. Yes, even Shawn Mendes -- someone relatively well-known -- has yet to figure out his life and find someone to cohabitate a gymnasium space with as Top 40 hits play in the background. He continued, "There is [no date] yet. No...I guess I have to figure my stuff out. I don't have much time."

No, Shawn, you do not. When asked what kind of girl he'd like to go to prom with, he said, "I like funny girls. I like dancers. I have a thing for girls who dance." We wonder if the two are mutually exclusive. We just now decided they are not.
