Who Is Fancy? Find Out in His ‘Boys Like You’ Video Feat. Ariana Grande + Meghan Trainor
Fan of Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" and "Lips Are Moving"? There's a new doo-wop influenced track you'll want to hear immediately: Who Is Fancy's "Boys Like You" featuring Ariana Grande and Meghan herself.
The flirty track made its debut today (November 22) hot off the momentum from last night's American Music Awards performances, where Ariana dazzled with a glam staging of "Focus," and Meghan's duet with Charlie Puth ended with a enthusiastic/puzzling round of onstage tonsil hockey. The animated video is adorable, creative and — for three very busy artists who don't have much time to coordinate a video shoot — a real problem solver.
In the clip, the three frolic in a Bitstrip-esque world where they share a crush on a dreamy and oblivious pool boy. They dance, they pratfall, and Ari whips up some of her famous "cherry pie." The chorus speaks to the joys of crushing hard: "Try try try, to follow the rules / I break every one of them with boys like you." If you're seeking a reminder of your summer fun days as chilly weather hits most of the country today, this just may do the trick.
So...Who Is Fancy? If you didn't know already, his real name is Jake Hagood and the openly-gay Southern singer already scored a Top 40 hit with "Goodbye" earlier this year. He's managed by Scooter Braun (as is Ariana) and his identity was slowly unveiled in a buzz-building viral campaign over the course of a few months at the beginning of 2015. The "meet the work before the artist" whisper campaign lasted through April — and many more people have met Who Is Fancy for the first time today, via the video below.
