Will Arrested Development return for Season 5?

We do understand the question and we will respond to it: Yes!

The cult-favorite dark comedy, which originally premiered on FOX in 2003, will return for a fifth season on Netflix, Variety has confirmed. The show lasted for three seasons on the network before it was canceled in 2006, but Netflix subsequently revived it in 2013 for Season 4.

“In talks with Netflix we all felt that that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days,” show creator Mitchell Hurwitz said in a statement. “I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life.”

Arrested Development never amassed a huge fanbase at FOX, but was critically acclaimed across its original run, racking up 25 Emmy nominations and winning six, included the coveted Outstanding Comedy Series. The cast, which includes Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jessica Walter, Portia de Rossi and Alia Shawkat, have kept mum since the most recent season about whether they'd return, frequently citing scheduling conflicts as cause for an extended hiatus.
