Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife, Tish Cyrus, are calling it quits after nearly three decades of marriage. Tish filed for divorce earlier in April, according to a report from TMZ, who obtained the court documents.

The divorce paperwork, which was filed in Tennessee, lists "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for the split. Tish also said in her filings that she and the "Achy Breaky Heart" star haven't lived together in over two years, and requests courts to equally distribute all their marital assets.

Cyrus and Tish tied the knot in 1993 and are parents to five children, including superstar Miley Cyrus and pop singer-songwriter Noah Cyrus. Both of those children have connections to the country genre: Noah previously duetted with Jimmie Allen, while Miley has teamed up with the likes of Maren Morris and Dolly Parton — the latter of whom is Miley's godmother.

Since they got married back in '93, the couple have filed for divorce twice before now. Cyrus filed once in 2010, and Tish filed again in 2013; both times, the split was short-lived. After calling off their divorce plans in 2013, the singer told US Weekly that couples therapy was helping them repair their bond.

“We both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together. We both went into couples therapy something we haven’t done in 22 years of being together, and it’s brought us closer together and really opened up our communication in amazing ways,” he explained at the time. “Tish also said marriage can be really hard especially after 22 years of being in entertainment. We’ve had rough times but we both realized we didn’t want to be another statistic and wanted to make it work.”

But the pair haven't been spotted together in public since 2020, and Cyrus was noticeably absent from Miley's family pictures from the 2021 holiday season, leading some fans to wonder if the couple were going through a rough patch.
