Dove Cameron Cast as Maleficent’s Daughter in Disney Channel’s ‘Descendants’

17-year-old Dove Cameron has just been cast in the upcoming live-action Disney Channel movie, 'Descendants.' As we previously reported, 'Descendants' is about the teenage children of classic Disney villains as they live alongside (and go to school with) the children of classic Disney heroes and heroines. In the film, Cameron will play Mal, the daughter of 'Sleeping Beauty' nemesis Maleficent, who is believed by many to be the most wicked Disney villain of all.

Cameron is already garnering buzz for her upcoming role, with some even believing that she will be the next big Disney star. The young actress currently stars on the Disney Channel Original Series 'Liv and Maddie,' and has previously had roles in 'The Mentalist' and 'Shameless.' She is also a singer, and will reportedly sing in the film.
