Amber Liu of K-pop Group f(x) Announces Departure From SM Entertainment
After 10 years under the prestigious K-pop label, f(x) member Amber Liu bids farewell.
In a handwritten letter posted on Twitter, the 26-year-old artist announced her departure fromSM Entertainment.
"From the bottom of my heart, I'd like to thank everyone who believed in me and have been patient with me all these years," the Chinese-American K-pop artist penned. "I can't wait to show you what's in store in the next chapter of my career."
Amber made her debut under SM Entertainment on August 31, 2009 as the androgynous main rapper of the group f(x). The group has released top-charting hits such as "Nu ABO," "Electric Shock," "Pinocchio (Danger)," "Rum Pum Pum Pum" and more throughout the years.
During the summer of July 2018, it was revealed Amber signed with U.S. agency Steelwood Entertainment to push her career westward. Between then and now, the singer-songwriter released her own solo material in English with songs like "Life Line," "Lost at Sea," "High Hopes" and fan favorite "Closed Doors."
