Korean singer Jung Joon Young has admitted to spreading sexually explicit hidden camera footage, according to an apology reportedly issued by the singer.

Young's apology was obtained in a press release by South Korean media company Herald Corporation. In it, he admitted to "filming women without their consent," translations provided by Soompi reveal. Young pledged in the statement to cooperate with Korean authorities.

"I write you in shame and guilt," Young stated in his apology. "I, Jung Joon Young, once again realized the seriousness of this situation after returning to Korea on March 12. Although it's already late, I apologize through this letter to all the people who showed an interest in me and gave me a second chance."

He continued, "In regards to what is being said in relation to me, I admit to all my crimes. I filmed women without their consent and shared it in a social media chatroom, and while I did so I didn't feel a great sense of guilt."

Young said what he did was "an unethical act worthy of criticism." He called it "a thoughtless action." He said he will be "withdrawing from all the programs that I was appearing on, and I will suspend all activities in the entertainment industry." Young will "set down all my activities as a public figure that are not self-reflection."

According to Soompi, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency arrested Young on Tuesday. He has been barred from leaving the country while the investigation is active.

"We booked Jung Joon Young and others in relation to allegations of spreading illegally taken videos this afternoon. We cannot reveal the identities of other suspects," police said in a statement.

The singer has been accused of filming women with hidden cameras and sharing the videos in a chatroom on multiple occasions. BIGBANG member Seungri has been linked to the same chatroom, and is currently under investigation for charges related to illegal prostitution and more stemming from a nightclub he owns in Seoul, South Korea, according to reports.
