K-Pop Group BLACKPINK’s single ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ Sets Records on Billboard Charts
Billboard reported Monday that BLACKPINK's song "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" is the highest-charting hit from a K-pop girl group to appear on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" debuted at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart ending June 30. The Wonder Girls previously reached No. 76 on the chart with the 2009 single "Nobody."
In addition, "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" is the first single from a K-pop girl group to appear on the Billboard Streaming Songs chart. The song debuted at No. 39 on the chart ending June 30.
"Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" appears on BLACKPINK's EP Square Up, which debuted June 15. The EP is the third part of the group's Square music series, preceded by the single album Square One and the EP Square Two.
BLACKPINK released a music video for "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" the same day as Square Up's release. The Korea Herald said the video topped 100 million views within 10 days, making BLACKPINK the first K-pop group to do so.
