Nicki Minaj’s Brother Arrested and Charged With Alleged Child Rape

Disturbing news has emerged regarding Nicki Minaj's family as New York Daily News reports that her brother, 37-year-old Jelani Maraj, has been arrested and charged with raping a 12-year-old child in Long Island, New York.

Maraj was arraigned on Thursday (Dec. 3) in Nassau County on a first-degree rape charge and was freed after posting a $100,000 bail. The New York Post reveals that Nicki herself posted the bail for her older brother.

The alleged assault happened on Nov. 30 and the victim was someone close to Maraj, reports the New York Daily News.

Maraj married his girlfriend Jaqueline in August in a wedding that was reportedly paid by Nicki. The "Anaconda" singer posted pictures of the wedding on her Instagram account and wrote tributes to her brother, including a caption that reads: “I love my brother so much man. Can't believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk."

So far, neither Nicki nor Jelani have publicly commented on the charges.
