Here’s Why Pete Davidson’s Tattoo Artist Warned Him Against Getting Ariana Grande Ink
Time can mend a broken heart, but ink of your ex? That's a little more expensive and painful to fix.
Pete Davidson is no stranger to getting tattoos of his girlfriends, and Ariana Grande, who Davidson has not one, but two whole tats dedicated to, is no different. According to one of the Saturday Night Live star's tattoo artists, however, getting Ari ink so soon may not have been the brightest idea.
Speaking to Page Six, Jon Mesa, a celebrity tattoo artist and co-owner of No Idols Tattoo Shop in Chinatown, New York City, revealed that he actually warned the comedian against getting a tattoo of Grande... ironically, while covering up one of Davidson's older tattoos of an ex-girlfriend.
"I did a huge coverup [adding a forest of trees]," Mesa explained. "After we were done, I told Pete, ‘Hey, dude, let’s just stop with the girlfriend tats until after [Grande’s] your wife."
Obviously, Davidson didn't listen, and soon after their conversation got two tats of the pop star: one of her initials on his thumb, and another of her iconic Dangerous Woman bunny mask behind his ear.
“Relationships come and go, and Pete is a really young man, but I think that went in one ear and out the other," Mesa added of his wisdom, which he imparted on Davidson just weeks before the young couple's whirlwind engagement became public.
“They are just riding that magical wave of bliss together,” Mesa continued. “It’s obvious that Pete is super in love with Ariana.”
Suddenly, "Tattooed Heart" has taken on a whole new meaning.
