Taylor Swift's confessional songwriting style and preternatural ability to connect with her audience led her to unprecedented country-pop crossover success at an early age. Born in Pennsylvania in 1989, Taylor scored a development deal with RCA when she was only in the eighth grade. In 2006 at the age of 16, she released her self-titled debut album. With the top-selling album of 2009, 'Fearless,' she started racking up major awards as well as widespread pop-culture awareness. With subsequent albums 'Speak Now' and 'Red,' Swift became the first woman to sell more than 1 million copies of two albums in their debut weeks. In 2013, she became only the second winner of the Country Music Association's prestigious Pinnacle Award.
