New Carrie Underwood Video Shows Close-Up of Her Face After 2017 Injury
Carrie Underwood, who got nearly 40 stitches etched into her face last fall after a freak accident outside of her house, shared a new close-up video of herself Saturday (April 28), and somehow, it doesn't look like there's a scratch.
In an Instagram story video since captured by Underwood fan account @firefly.glow, Underwood suffers through husband Mike Fisher's...dolphin imitation?...while the couple cruises in their car. The singer mouths "Help me!" to the camera as the squeaking persists.
"Must we? So. Annoying," she captioned the video.
Underwood explained her fall for the first time to iHeartRadio's Bobby Bones show on April 19, and said the accident was the result of some bad luck.
"I was just taking the dogs out to go pee-pee one last time and I just, I tripped," she said. "There was one step, and I went — I didn't let go of the leashes, priorities! So, that's why my left hand's fine. But I went to catch myself and I just missed a step. If I had fallen anywhere else I would have been perfectly fine, but it was one step that messed everything up."
Underwoood, who also suffered a broken wrist, went on to further detail her injuries.
"[I fell] around my mouth," she continued, adding that she was "very fortunate" throughout her healing process. "I was lucky that when it happened, everything was kind of shutting down in the music world and we had the holidays and stuff like that. But I was at a point where I didn't know how things were going to end up. I didn't know what was going to go on and didn't know what it was going to heal like."
Underwood performed for the first time since her fall at the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards gala in Las Vegas earlier this month.
