A wedding guest is in shock after getting uninvited to a destination wedding they already spent over $1,000 on to attend.

On Reddit, the scorned wedding guest, whose friend is getting married in Asia, shared they live in North America and were invited to the ceremony roughly a year ago.

However, despite having already booked their flights, they received a message informing them they are no longer invited.

"Hey guys, I'm so sorry to tell you this but I don't have any accommodation left for y'all for the wedding. I sincerely apologize. I hope y'all haven't booked tickets yet," the bride-to-be sent in a group message.

The confused guest reached out to the bride, writing, "Hey, I literally just booked my tickets and everything like three days ago 'cause our agent knew and found something ... I’m gonna try to cancel but I don’t think I can."

In response, the bride told the guest her wedding hotel staff isn't "budging on accommodations," but she could possibly "figure something out" if they are unable to get a refund for their airline tickets.

Feeling "icky" about the entire situation, especially after the bride-to-be asked them not to tell anyone about her possibly helping them out, the guest is now unsure of what to do.

"I am feeling so embarrassed because I already told my friends and family I was invited to a destination wedding and to tell people I was uninvited is so embarrassing. I was super excited about this and really happy for her," they concluded.

Users in the comments section tried to make sense of the situation.

"Makes me think she invited way more people than she could have accommodated and didn’t think that many people would actually show up for her destination wedding," one person wrote.

"That makes no sense, why can’t you just stay off site and still attend the wedding?" another asked.

"You shouldn’t be embarrassed about this situation. The bride should be the one embarrassed. Destination weddings are expensive to some people so it’s common that people will actually plan a year ahead to afford to attend. People in general will be empathetic to you in this matter!" someone else commented.
