Sia Supports ‘Kind’ Scooter Braun Amid Taylor Swift Drama, Responds to Blackface Accusations
Sia is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the Taylor Swift/Scooter Braun drama.
Over the weekend, the internet collectively lost it's mind after the "You Need to Calm Down" singer publicly called out the manager (who represents stars like Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato) in a lengthy Tumblr post after he acquired the rights to her music catalog. In it, Swift not only called him a "bully," but accused him of taking part in her infamous feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in 2016.
Since then, a number of celebrities have taken sides. Halsey, Cara Delevingne and Todrick Hall all voiced their support of Swift, while Bieber, Lovato and most recently Sia have come to Braun’s defense.
"You're a good kind man @scooterbraun I hope this passes quickly. I love you keep going," she wrote.
But it seems like Swift's fans were very pleased with Sia's decision to stand with Braun because three hours after her initial tweet, the "Cheap Thrills" hitmaker called them out for accusing her of blackface.
Alongside a video of a performance from 2011, she denied the allegations and explained that she painted her body to blend in the background at her live shows. "For the swift fans trying to make out that I would ever do blackface please see this video. I was painting myself into the backdrop, it was a pre cursor to the wig," she said.
Back in 2016, Sia found herself at the center of a blackface controversy one again after releasing the video for her song "The Greatest," which featured children with painted faces.
