Who Should Win the 2014 MTV VMA for Best Pop Video? – Readers Poll
The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards are back again and it’s time to choose who you think deserves to take home a Moonman! Pharrell, Ariana Grande, Avicii, Iggy Azalea and Jason Derulo are all battling it out for the coveted Best Pop Video prize. Which video do you think has earned the win?
Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ video, fittingly, is four minutes of pure happiness. The singer gathered people from all walks of life to come together for his upbeat song. They take turns dancing down the street, shaking their hips while they work and clapping to the beat while Pharrell jumps around them singing. The cameos from huge names like Steve Carell, Jimmy Kimmel and Kelly Osbourne make the video pretty special, too.
'Problem,' Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea
Ariana Grande went for a retro vibe in the video for her hit song ‘Problem’ ft. Iggy Azalea. The brunette and blonde singers are decked out in mod dresses and high hair as they shake around with backup dancers dressed in black and white. The whirling kaleidoscope in the background is hypnotizing as Ariana nails her insane high notes and struts her stuff in her knee-high white boots. Work it, girl!
'Wake Me Up,' Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc
Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ ft. Aloe Blacc stars two sisters who are outcasts in their tiny country town. The oldest sister goes on a quest by horseback to find a new home where they can proudly sport their outcast marks, two scars which slightly resemble triangular play buttons. The idea of orphaned young girls living in a barren world that feels strangely old-fashioned and out-of-touch is slightly reminiscent of a dystopian young adult novel. That's enough reason to love it!
'Fancy,' Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX
Iggy Azalea doubles as Cher from the hit ’90s movie ‘Clueless’ in her video for ‘Fancy’ ft. Charli XCX. She rocks a matching plaid skirt and blazer as she struts around her Beverly Hills-esque high school. Of course, Cher’s BFF Dionne also stars in the vid, wearing the ridiculous hats the original Di was known for in the film. Iggy’s video is such an accurate callback to the movie you’ll be itching to watch it once the Aussie is finished spitting her rhymes.
'Talk Dirty,' Jason Derulo ft. 2 Chainz
Jason Derulo’s ‘Talk Dirty’ ft. 2 Chainz follows the Derulo video recipe: lots of dancing paired with lots of hot girls. The chart-topping song is brought to a new level with the singer’s impressive choreo. It’s no surprise he can pull in girls from all over the world — he’s got serious moves! 2 Chainz makes an appearance to drop his verse, but then it’s right back to Jason doing what he does best: shoulder-popping and leg-locking.
